The orbit of the planets

Xians used to think that their sky daddy controlled the planets however we now know that they orbit in a mathematically predictable manor.

The causes obvious problems as a year is linked to how long it takes the earth to orbit the sun and so it would be impossible for your sky daddy to change how long a year lasted as and when they felt like it.

So what if i prayed that Christmas would come early this year? If your sky daddy could not answer my prayer then there are prayers that cannot be answered however if they could then they would break the laws of science. I think those theists are going to be stumped by this thought of mine.

Hi Mike.

Are you trying to say that the God that created everything was not the same God that created the laws of science?

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: Gen 1:14

It seems to me that God already pointed out that they orbit in a "mathematically predictable pattern".

I'm wondering why you think that it would be impossible for God to change the duration of a year.
You also seem to think that if God does not do what you want that you express in prayer, that means He is incapable of doing that which you ask.... why do you think that way?
Maybe you just don't understand what i just said, so let me explain it in your own terms...
Using the same line of thinking that you are using, then it would be safe to conclude that when you do not answer a question, then you are incapable of answering the question... right?

Have a good night Mike.

By creating nature that follows a observable pattern God in fact created science. Science is the study of God's handiwork. If one is coming from and evolutionary worldview the world would be in a state of flux, ever-changing. If this flux existed we would never be able to state that the planets follow set courses.

You will probably use the argument that evolution takes a long time. Most evolutionary scientists like that argument, however, after further study they change long time to a really, really, really long time. I mean people we are talking a long time. So long we will not be able to see any evidence in our lifetime or for many lifetimes after.

Regarding the prayer question. Again you are looking at God from a Man-centered perspective. God does not have to do what you ask Him to do. God does not have to prove himself to you.
