should we stone people for reading harry potter?

According to the bible parents should stone their children to death simply for reading harry potter. indeed, these were the passages used in the witch hunts. We often look back and say how horrible witch hunts were but surely they were simply people following their bible.

As xians realise that following the bible is wrong why dont they just go the full way and become atheists?

Mike, are you trying to say that there are things that are right and wrong?

Or are you again voicing an opinion?

are you saying that its o.k to stone people for reading harry potter?

Mike, to whom were the Commands in Leviticus given and for what purpose were they given?

In the New Testement, what Commands from the Old Testement still apply to followers of Jesus?

Maybe you should take your question to some Jews and see how it applies to them.

P.S. to be on the safe side, leave your copy of Harry Potter at home when you ask your question.

so your sky daddy made a mistake in allowin people to stone harry potter readers and so sent jebus to correct his error?

LOL, Mike... nice try.

Mike,

Jesus was slain before the foundation of the earth. It can't hardly be a mistake if it was planned, now can it?

Do you ever intend on approaching your questions and complaints in an honest fashion?

Or do you think you are above honesty?

well no, clearly the new testament writers saw how bad the old testament was and decided to do a better job of writing it.

Since you make the claim that it is clearly the case, present an argument that proves your claim.... but it better take into account the Fall in Genesis and the resulting Curse, to include the promise that "...it shall bruise thy head..." Gen 3:15

thats the most retarded argument ive ever heard. your saying that the other day you bruised your head (presumably you walked into a door or something) and have now found a bit in genesis which talks about bruising your head. Oh well, that must be a prophesy...not.

I'll re-word the request , Mike...

Since you make the claim that it is clearly the case, present a SYLLOGISM that proves your claim.... but it better take into account the Fall in Genesis and the resulting Curse, to include the promise that "...it shall bruise thy head..." Gen 3:15

i still cant see what bruising your head has to do with anything

isn't that part of the problem.. you are so busy trying to find ways to discredit Christianity, that you make little to zero effort to understand the context of the verses.

You also make little to zero effort to understand the doctrines claimed by Christians to be true.

But you focus most of your efforts on trying to find what other people have said about Christianity and the Bible... you include those that agree with you and ridicule those that do not.

I suggested that you study it yourself. I would be willing to answer questions... as i'm sure Nick, JB, rc, and even LPoT would also be willing to help you investigate for yourself. Everyone of us can be found on Tweb... i'm xtreem5150ahm.

Mikey, I already explained this to you on T web. It's better translated to:

"A person who kills though potions shall be put to death."

Do keep trying Mikey.

liliepixieoferror stop lying. we never had that converstaion. and i want to go with he official translaton in this case rather than your retarded one.

So you saying I'm lying now? Prove it Mikey, I remember explaining to somebody pretty recently about this same topic. At best this is a simple case of mistaken identity, so do you care to say sorry for accusing me of lying or will you show that the only liar here is you?

and i want to go with he official translaton in this case rather than your retarded one.

Translation: "I am too dumb to give a proper response to what you said because the Bible was written in my language, to me personally!"

Too stupid to answer a word I said, so rejecting anything that proves you wrong is the best you can do. Now, do you have anything to answer me or is this the best you can accomplish?

As a Christian, I find this laughable. I am very devoted to my faith and a huge fan of Harry Potter. I have read all the books and seen all the movies. (In fact, I own all the movies. I checked out the books to read on audio.)

I recommend John Granger's "Looking for God in Harry Potter."

its a good job your xian friends dont believe in the bible or theyd stone you nick.

I find it amazing that the pixieoferror goes around acusing doubting john of lying and then posts stuff that isnt true all over my blog. If you can play that card then maybe douting john made a mistake when he recommended his blog.

Mike, again, to whom is God speaking in vs. 27 and who is the Command intended to govern?

Try reading from the beginning of the chapter....but if you are so lazy, then just take a peek at the verse right before... here, i'll post that, to get you started..

Lev 20:26 And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

God is speaking to Moses, and telling Moses to tell the people of Israel these Commands and the punishments that the people are to exact.

Christians are ruled by Grace, not by the Law (that's what the Commands in Leviticus are)... some Laws do carry over to the New Testement (think the New Testement and Old Testement as agreements with God... it's a contract or Covenant), but, (at least at the moment) i do not recall the New Testement requiring punishment to be exacted by the people for the failure of keeping Commnands--- that is to say, that the Christian has put his trust in Jesus and the work Jesus did on the cross...
Those that are under the Law are subject to the Law.

You also said, "i want to go with he official translaton".

Just so you know, when they do translations, some of the words and phrases do not translate exactly. Some of the versions are more .. thought-for-word translations
while others are more ..
word-for-word.

There is another factor too... as more studying is done (by the guys that study words), the find out more on the word origins and what phrases meant when they were in use.
For our purposes though, i don't see much difficulty using the definition that you understand or if you go with what Pixie claims... right now, that's the least of our problems here Mike.
Let's read the context and get some idea who is being addressed, and what the purposes are.

Good night,
johnny

Too bad that you still can't answer my argument eh? BTW... I have read some of the Harry Potter books

I find it amazing that the pixieoferror goes around acusing doubting john of lying and then posts stuff that isnt true all over my blog.

HAHA! Mikey is too stupid to understand the difference between lying and mistakes! I know you have the brains of a cow, but come on Mikey... unless you can prove that I told a falsehood on purpose with the intent to deceive, you are simply slandering people just because they disagree with you.

If you can play that card then maybe douting john made a mistake when he recommended his blog.

Mikey, starting blogs about people and claiming at another place that you 'recently noticed' it and you don't know who wrote it is lying. A simple cases of thinking you discussed something with another person is just a mistake. Do you know the difference between the two Mikey or are you just too stupid to figure it out?

I'm waiting for you to show where I was wrong on my argument... going to sometime in the next 30 years?

Mike Trite please clarify how reading a fantasy novel equates to practicing witchcraft.

Particularly when the 'magic' in the novel in question is absolutely nothing like the practices the Bible describes.

"its a good job your xian friends dont believe in the bible or theyd stone you nick. "

Actually I think its good his Christian friends know how to read. Since the verse in question reads(emphasis mine) "Any man or woman that HAS a familar spirt or IS a wizard..." It does NOT say "any man or woman who reads books about people who have familar spirts or about wizards"
