More atheist discrimination

ive noticed a common method of discrimination on the internet. Often websites will ask if you are a robot (with a yes/no) option or a set of random words you need to type. However this assumes that people arent just biological robots which is contary to what richard dawkins teaches.

Mike, do you realize just how self-defeating Richard's worldview is? You are essentially saying that Physicalist determinism is true, but this implies fatalism. All forms of fatalism are self-defeating because you were fated to believe in fatalism. but surely you know that rationality and epistemic justification REQUIRES the ability freely choose. if we have, free will, then our minds are UNMOVED MOVERS, which means that they are not physical. But even if they are nonphysical, they are temporal and finite, they began to exist AND are in a constant state of flux. They could not have come from material, they must have an origin in a greater "uber"mind, a.k.a God. Thanks for helping me prove the existence of God mike :D

Can you give an example of such a website?

You mean this post wasn't satire?

C'mon. Sure it was. Nobody but Dawkins is THAT dumb.

STAL asked, "Can you give an example of such a website?"

www.blogger.com

the word verification box under the comment box... but, as usual, Mike's conclusion (e.g. that this is discrimination against atheists) is unsubstantiated.

jake... right on the money.

I'm kinda wondering if Mike understood Jake's post..

Correct me if i'm wrong Jake.

In a nutshell,
Mike,

if matter and energy is all that there is, physical laws determine where and when the matter and energy go (think of a big pool/billiard table).
If you follow that out, from the beginning of the big bang all the way to the thoughts that Mike has... his mind is reduced to mere chemical reaction..

In other words Mike... the great R. Dawkins is nothing more than a lucky biological robot, fated to say cool stuff about biology but stupid stuff about Christianity...

... and the really funny thing is that, if naturalism is true, he doesn't have free will enough to realise anything.... you and he are fated to just exist without knowledge of the world around you.

How do you know that computers wont one day have freewill?

Mike said, "How do you know that computers wont one day have freewill?"

First of all, Mike, that would imply that they were designed with free will.

Secondly, if computers did have free will someday, the discussion would then be exactly as it already is.. and, as Jake explained, physicalist determinsim would still be a self-defeating argument.

Mike, sorry dude but I don't think that's what Dawkins was saying at all. You have to marvel at the ways of the world, and the beauty of nature, but that doesn't mean that a god of any kind made these things. Its because science works in such a way as to create these amazing ladscapes through physical and chemical laws.

Jake, you've proved nothing except that you've read word of the day on Dictionary.com a few times. Free will is a concept created by Christians to try to prove their god, but free will is a natural given reality in that nobody is up there controlling things like some kind of sorcerer's apprentice. That's just fantasy. AND YOU BELIEVE IT!!! HA HA HA!!

I know Dawkins' books are a bit hard to swallow if you're head-in-sand religious people because you don't understand reality well enough to understand him. But if you'd care to go get a high school qualification in science, you'll soon see the sense in what he says.

See about Cargo Cults to see just how Christianity started up. Its only kept going through religious fervency and the gullibility of the young human mind. Its part of human survival so its essential to us, but the by-product is that we can often take these fantasies into adulthood. Until we finally 'grow up' and face reality.

So grow up y'all.

Dawkins books are hard to swallow because hes a touch condecending to theists in general and Christians in particular. And because his ignorance of history and theology is sickening

If he stuck to biology, where he is indeed knowldgeable, then it would be no big deal.

Hi CfT,

You said, " Free will is a concept created by Christians to try to prove their god, but free will is a natural given reality... "

Your statement makes no sense...

Are you claiming that free will was created by Christians?

OR

Are you claiming that it is a natural reality?

CfT continued saying, " in that nobody is up there controlling things like some kind of sorcerer's apprentice. That's just fantasy. AND YOU BELIEVE IT!!! HA HA HA!! "

Amazing!!!

I'm going to play a little game with you...

If God does not exist, that means you are a product of time + matter + chance.

(Macro)Evolution is a product of random processes over long periods of time.

Ok.. your move.

Hi Johnny,

I'm saying that free will is a natural reality of course. Read the sentence back to yourself again.

Of course though, it isn't really is it? Because we have social expectations on us so we have to do things like buy a house, get a mortgage, work to pay off that mortgage. So whereas I'd like to go off travelling the world, I can't cos I've got to do my job and pay my mortgage.

"I'm going to play a little game with you...

If God does not exist, that means you are a product of time + matter + chance."

Apart from the chance, yes you're right. I think the problem is Christians struggle with this concept. The whole wonderful world is a product of time, matter and evolution. Thus:

"(Macro)Evolution is a product of random processes over long periods of time.

Ok.. your move."

Johnny, go study evolution then come back with a proper argument once you understand it. I'm not going through all that with you now. Okay?

Laters :-)

Hmmm, no response Johnny?? C'mon, you've had 2 days, surely you can do better than that??

Or are you too damn thick?

I expect so.

Mike, I think we can count that one as concluded? :-)
