it apears luke over at common sense atheism has been plagarising my arguments. Youll notice that on the 14th of november 2008 I wrote this post. Then on the 20th of march 2009 I wrote this. Then one of the most popular atheist blogs on the internet called common sense atheism, after id done my posts, produced this Note how similar the post at common sense atheism is to mine.
So if i come up with arguments first why doesnt my blog get as many visitors as common sense atheism does?
Finally some really good news - a poster called MWM has converted to atheism after reading my blog!!!! Welcome to the rational world of enlightenment. if theres anything i can do to help you with your conversion let me know.

Hi Mike.
LOL.. you still think that the argument was worthy of merit??
Please.
If you do, then you just ain't thinking rationally.
You spend more time and energy trying to think of ways to debunk Christianity than you do examining your own claims.
God Bless you Mike.
johnny
ahhhhh yes the wonderful world of rationality. i just bought the god delusion, god is not great, and the end of faith. i think im all set.
reason bless.
-mwm
yes id like some "disipling" if u dont mind.
could u post your top 10 arguments against the claims of christianity, mainly the existence of god and the resurrection of jesus (pretty hard to resurrect when you didnt exist lol).
oh and ur five fav books about atheism
thanks.
MWM, if you're an honest seeker, check out 'Faith & Reason'
Ronald Nash
ISBN 0-310-29401-0
(MWM doesn't have something to do with being Mike Wright M... does it? lol)
Sorry Mike, but i must be slipping.
Even if luke stole your argument, so what??
Where does moral absolutism come from, if we are all just a product of blind chance?
And to MWM... this challenge is also to you, since you imply that nothing is, unless it can be rationally proven.
later gators,
johnny
k listen. christianity has no legs to stand on cuz jesus never existed.
1) we dont have a shred of evidence for him
2) we have no writings about him from when he supposedely lived
3) he didnt write anything
4)the gospels were all written in the second century
MWM said, k listen. christianity has no legs to stand on cuz jesus never existed
Hi MWM,
First, why would you think atheism is a valid alternative to any other belief system?
Second, it's a pretty bold statement to say that Jesus never existed, since most scholars today, accept the fact that Jesus existed....
Anyway, you said:
1) we dont have a shred of evidence for him,
Sure we do.. the existence of Christianity, for starters.
2) we have no writings about him from when he supposedely lived
So?? How many people in ancient history do we believe in, that we don't have writing about them from when they supposedly lived?
If that's one of your criteria, you're going to have to disbelieve in a whole lot o' "ancient dudes".
Plus, 2000 years from now, can you be certain that there will be any writings about you, that are from when you were alive?
3) he didnt write anything
Again, so what?
4)the gospels were all written in the second century
Really?? I'm making a guess here, but i'm guessing that you miss understood whatever you read.
I think you would rather say that the MANUSCRIPTS THAT WE HAVE, of the gospels, were probably copied in the second century. There is one, P51 if i recall, that has been argued that it could have been written during the last part of the 1st century, up to the end of the 1st quarter of the 2nd century.
And again, so what? If the gospels had been written by eyewitnesses, and the eyewitnesses lived INTO the second century, then that is not a problem for Christianity (or, rather, it's not the problem that you think it is--- it does raise some different problems, but none that can not be accounted for, that i'm aware of).
What i'm saying here, is that Just because Jesus was about 33 when He died, the second century was less than 70 yrs away.
johnny
Sorry, for clarity, i'd like to rephrase something..
You said, "3) he didnt write anything"
I replied, "Again, so what?"
There's two points here.. first, Christianity does not claim that Jesus wrote anything, therefore, whether He wrote something or not, says nothing about a leg the Christianity might not have to stand on.
Second, that someone did not write something says nothing about his existence.
God Bless,
johnny
"were probably copied in the second century"
yeah probably. mere speculation.
"yeah probably. mere speculation"
LOL... yeah, tell that to the scholars that study the manuscripts.
Now, since you want to play that game, (even though i gave you an easy out) ..
PROVE
that the manuscripts that we have, were written in the 2nd century...
AND PROVE
that they ARE the autographs.
God Bless,
johnny
doesnt matter. god isnt real, so theres no god to raise a jesus who didnt exist from the dead.
fairy tales r for children. its time to grow up.
when i failed my math test last week, where was god?
doesnt matter. god isnt real, so theres no god to raise a jesus who didnt exist from the dead
You haven't given your own position much thought, have you?
1)if there were no God, how could you know?... wouldn't YOU have to be omniscient and omnipresent to know that no where and no how could a god exist?
But wouldn't that make you a god with omnipowers?
2)if there were no God, where did everything come from?
No matter how you section physical, concrete reality, nothing in the universe can be claimed to have created itself... you need something from outside of creation that is eternal/outside of time.
fairy tales r for children. its time to grow up
Again, you haven't thought your position out very well.
Burden of proof is on you... prove that belief in God is a fairy tale. (Alvin Plantinga has argued that it is a Properly Basic Belief)
when i failed my math test last week, where was god?
Where has God said that He would keep you from failing your math test?
God Bless,
johnny
i could use ur help mike.
MWM,
Mike gives me the impression that he thinks that if he answers objections, then the objections have been given more weight.
example.
If you accuse me of stealing your bubble gum.. Mike would think that i stole your bubble gum if i said, "no i didn't".
So, don't expect much participation from Mike. I would hope that i'm wrong, but Mike participates in his conversations less and less.
If my impression of why Mike doesn't answer is right, then Mike hasn't learned yet, that not answering objections can also be harmful for one's own position.
In other words (using the bubblegum example) maybe you didn't even have bubble gum in the first place, and you just wanted Mike to think i was a thief.
later,
johnny
that's just plain cruel ;')

Hi MWM - if youve only just become an atheist then your doing well for your first debate. Tell johnny that the moment we can trace a source back to christians then its biased. As the bible was written by christians then it is invalid. If its invalid then it is like a fairy tale. Then tell johnny to watch zeitgeist the movie - somebody who isnt aware of the latest advancements in scholarship simply isnt worth wasting time on.
As for where the universe came from, point out that this leaves the question who made god?
Johnny tals about proper basic beliefs however this is a typical christiaan tactic - they use complicated phrases and words so that it harder to tell how stupid there arguments are.
hope that helps
Also - here is a good overview if wheather jebus existed
Also, jp holding got pwned in a debate on the whather jebus existed so that is always worth a listen.
Hi Mike,
You said: Tell johnny
ummm...
hmmm...
ah, never mind
that the moment we can trace a source back to christians then its biased
Attaboy, confuse the poor kid, he'll be on our side before you know it... hehehe
As the bible was written by christians then it is invalid
OH, i see... science books were written by scientists, so those are biased and invalid sources.
Then tell johnny to watch zeitgeist the movie - somebody who isnt aware of the latest advancements in scholarship simply isnt worth wasting time on
hmm.. i think i'll wait for the atheist MWM to tell me to watch zeitgeist, the movie.. so i can see the latest in scholarship.. lol
As for where the universe came from, point out that this leaves the question who made god?
Nope, incorrect.
In all worldviews, including naturalism (atheism) you must have a necessary being. Naturalism thinks the necessary being is energy. Yet, that position fails on at least two levels.
Johnny talks about proper basic beliefs however this is a typical christiaan tactic - they use complicated phrases and words so that it harder to tell how stupid there arguments are
And YOU want me to watch zeitgeist (the movie) for advancements in scholarship?? LOL
hope that helps
I'm sure glad you're on the side of Christians...
As a hostile witness, you're one of the best on our team. ;)
oh wait.... i should have told MWM to tell you..
johnny
