Is the bible a science book?

I know xians say that the bible isnt meant to be a science book but why didnt god make it one? If the bible said that their sky daddy spent billions of years making the universe then it would clear up a lot of confusion and if it said that he made us out of intermediate life forms rather than out of dust it would clear up a lot of confusion. Sky daddy could put in other stuff about morality and why he/she made us if he/she wanted. Doing so would have given scientific knowledge to ancient sand people and your blind faith would be a bit more credible. As Sam Harris pointed out, if the bible predicted the invention of the internet then it would be a lot more credible.

Why should he have written a science book? He wrote to give the plan of salvation and the only important things are things that relate to that.

Now Mikey, on atheism, can you give me a basis why you can trust science?

What is the purpose of the Bible Mikey? Would that information be useful to people 2,000 years ago? No. Would that information be useful to use today? No. Why can I say this? The Bible can be read in a year by reading just a chapter or two a day, if God included planetary formation theory or something of that nature, would you ever get to the point of the Bible?

Hi Mike,

Nick and LilPixie make good points.
May i offer something else for you to consider?

If God wants you to choose Him because He is God, would it be much of a choice if He gave you all the answers?

You also say, Mike, that (Christian's) blind faith would be more credible....

Are you even aware that you, Mike, also have blind faith?.... in fact, i would say that atheists have far, far more blind faith.

if god had used words like billion years instead of day it would not make the bible longer.

I could ignore you sky daddy even if i knew he existed. what a cop out.

You know know the ancient Hebrews had no concept of a billion years, right? And another case of a skeptic thinking the Bible should of been written to him today, in his own view.

im sure the people in hebrew times would have understood billions of years if thats what the bible said. Im not saying that the bible shold have been written today, just that it should contain scientifically clear stuff

Mike what time does the sun rise in your area?

The weatherman usually says something like, "Sunrise will be at 6:30 am tomorrow morning."

About what time does the weatherman say the sun will rise in your area?

Just an average will do.

I would appreciate your answer.

the weather man predicts the weather, not the rising of the sun

Do you watch the weather?

Most weather reports include when the sun will rise and when the sun will set.

Here is an example of what you might find on the internet:

Wind: Southeast at 20 MPH32 KPHHumidity: 58%
Dewpoint: 72°F22°C
Barometer: 29.72 inches and steady
Heat Index: 94°F34°C
Sunrise: 6:24 am
Sunset: 8:12 pm

I checked The Weather Channel on-line and they give sunrise and sunset times.

So the question remains, and it is a simple one.

When will the sunrise in your area tomorrow morning?

If you do not have time to go to any number of weather sources you can just estimate it for me.

Thanks for your response.

No mikey, what you are saying is stupid stuff that show you're an idiot who doesn't care. You still have not shown why the Bible should include something about science when it wasn't designed to.

i cant see how this weatherman stuff is relevant to my intelligent blog post

If you would be so kind as to answer the question I could show you the relevance.

I have tried to be kind to you, but you will not give me the decency of answering a simple question.

You stated regarding the Bible:

"Im not saying that the bible shold have been written today, just that it should contain scientifically clear stuff"

I wanted to point out to you that weathermen and meteoroligists everywhere are not scientifically clear when they discuss the sunrise and sunset times. The sun does not actually rise and set, but it appears to from the perspective of a man standing on the earth.

So why are you not out campaigning for the weather forecast to be more scientifically accurate?
