e=mc2 therefore sky daddies don't exist

Just when you think you've seen all the arguments against sky daddies you come across another one. This one is a must watch. It also answers the question people keep asking as to why religion and science contradict. To summarise it:

E=MC2
Therefore only matter and energy exist
Therefore god doesn't exist

Only things that follow newton laws are possible
miracles don't follow newtons laws
therefore miracles aren't possible

Where did E, M or C come from then?

the big bang you idiot

Question begging anyone? Not even Einstein was an atheist. He was more of a pantheist.

By the way, Newton was in no way an atheist. He was an Arian actually, but he saw his work as bringing glory to God.

Also, where did you get this mythical idea of a constant warfare between science and religion? It comes from Draper and Andrew Dickson White, both of whom have been shown to have no real credibility in what they wrote. Read something real on science and Christianity sometime. Try John Lennox's "God's Undertaker: Has Science Buried God?" and Alister McGrath's "The Twilight of Atheism." You can also read Rodney Stark's "The Victory of Reason."

btw, I see that you've mentioned the Big Bang. I as a Christian accept the Big Bang entirely. Now please tell me, what caused the bang. If you heard a bang and asked me what caused it and I said "Nothing. It just happened." You wouldn't accept it. Somehow though, you accept it with a Big Bang.

Have you all watched the video i linked to? it even has 4 stars on youtube.

The point is that newton and einstein proved atheism without even realising it. And Einstein was an atheist, when he talked about god and religion he meant he was amazed at the universe (read the God Delusion) Finally if you think that science and religion are compatiable then watch this s it is a top scientist talking on the subject.

Ohand as for the big bang then nothing caused it. why do you assume that it had to be caused?

Nick said...

Nope. No proving of atheism there. The Big Bang indicates that matter and time had a beginning. (By the way, Aquinas could accept an eternal universe so that would be no obstacle to Christianity.) You can't prove that matter is all there is, which is what you must do to sustain atheism.

And you say a Big Bang doesn't need a cause? Lovely. Even David Hume said he never suggested something so absurd as that something happened without a cause. If Hume were here right now, he would be siding with the Christians on this regard.

Mike is Wright said...

evolution allows stuff to happen without causes.

Mike is Wright said...

and if they idea of an uncaused big bang is stupid the the idea of an uncaused sky daddy is even more stupid

Nick said...

Evolution is only an instrumental cause. It is not an efficient cause. (You do know about Aristotle's four causes with two added in the Medieval period I hope. You probably don't though.)

As for God being uncaused, causality says that all that begins to exist has a cause. God doesn't. Everyone agrees the Big Bang began at some point. All that begins needs a cause.

Now please, say something here that will make me blink. Alright?

Mike is Wright said...

you obviously don't understand anything about science. Your last posts was so stupid that i don't think i even need to respond to it.

Nick said...

Wow. That counts as an argument in some circles? Sorry bub. Anyone looking could tell you've been outclassed. Do tell me what an efficient cause is and an instrumental cause. Alright?

Mike is Wright said...

did you ever actually watch the youtube video i linked to in the initial blog post?

Nick said...

No. I don't watch YouTube videos for supposed educational content. I watch them for amusement. You want something real? Give me a book to read instead.

Mike is Wright said...

ah well, if you haven't watched the youtube video i posted to then it explains why you are so stupid.

Nick said...

Yep. I'm so stupid. My challenge is still open for you to come on theologyweb and debate me or you can just keep being a wuss.

Mike is Wright said...

I would but your friends at theologyweb keep editing and disallowing my posts under the disguise of moderating them. Aparantly disagreeing with them is blasphemy.

Nick said...

Nope. Saying things like "Jebus" is blasphemy. By the way, I'm the one that's been releasing your posts in there. I am in charge of the area you're posting in. We have several atheists there who get along just fine and manage and don't get in any trouble.

I have just released one of your posts in the Boiler Room since you complain about moderation also.

And I watched the video. The guy begs the question at the beginning by saying matter is all there is.

Mike is Wright said...

no. most scientists agree that e=mc2 and therefore existence is energy and matter. sky daddies aren't energy or matter. and to get 4 stars of youtube must mean that you're in a minority not being to see the argument's brilliance.

I can't see what's wrong with the word Jebus.

Nick said...

e=MC2 does not mean that existence is energy and matter. Most scientists? I want to see the polls on those who were asked.

What existence is is a philosophical question. It is not a scientific question. It is the nature of ontology and not the physical attributes of a thing.

And four stars on YouTube? That's simply argument ad populum.

haha this is the comments section where Mike said he was beat Nick in a debate?

I'm sorry Mike...but he's right. You've been pwned im afraid.

Name me a scientis who said nothing caused the big bang.

Even David Hume said that your idea is ridiculous. But I suppose you know more about science than David Hume...

Anyway, your logic means that Time doesn't exist.

And again- by your logic, the Big Band didn't exist. You say in order for things to exist they have to be made out of E, M or C. (Do you even know what they mean btw)? Then you say they were created by the Big Bang. Hold up there! What about the Big Bang? What was the mechanism that triggered it made out of? E, M or C? Well no, because it CREATED E, M and C so it couldnt have been made up of them. So it wasnt made up of E M or C. Therefore by your criteria, the Big Bang didn't exist.

And your posts wernt edited in that any huge arguments you had against us were edited out. The only word that was removed was "Jebus" and does Richard Dawkins ever use that phrase in the God Delusion?

Mike is Wright said...

Peter Atkins is a scientist who believes that nothing caused the big bang. He argues that because atoms are positive and negative if you add up all the atoms in the universe the negative atoms cancel the positive ones out and they add up to nothing.

Richard Dawkins doesn't use the word jebus but often uses the word 'imaginary freind' instead. For example here.

Haha, silly Mikey won't debate me. Isn't he precious?

Mike is Wright said...

well what do you want me to say in response? Your argument that i'm stupid is simply argumentum ad populum

Nick said...

Mikey. Do you know what argument ad populum is?

Mike is Wright said...

Its a tad childish how you want to divert this debate into some kind of nit picking discussion on the finer points of what the word populum means. Lets ignore the specifics and look at the overwhealing evidence against the existence of sky daddies.

Nick said...

Dude. You just don't have a clue. Argument ad populum is a logical fallacy and you're committing it.

Stephen Hawking, supposidly the "smartest man in the world" believes in a god of somesort (althougg his views may be pantheistic, I'm not sure) and hes admitted, or so I believe that science can not possibly know what became before Time Zero. And, as far as philosophy is concerned I'm pretty sure of God's existence. Therefore, its logical to assume that God kicked off the Big Bang.

btw, apparently the Big Bang theory was invented by a Roman Catholic priest to show that Creation ex Nihilo (Something thought impossible at the time, although it is taught in Scripture) was possible.

Although, to be fair I got that little soundbite from Dan browns "Angels and Demons" so I may be horribly mistaken
